  1. Welcome to the official Railroad Prototype Modelers (RPM) web site! WPM So Cal meet for 2020 will be back at San Bernardino station Date: WPM SoCal meet click for info. Thanks for your past support!
  2. One of the web sites I have presented my Model Railway resource award to specializes in track plans for extremely small layouts and has a section containing several plans for layouts no larger than an A3 sheet of paper (in a number of different scales) and I can't see how anyone could fail to find at least that much space for a layout.

Improvising with unconventional materials and methods to good effect by Burr Stewart

'This clinic will chronicle a variety of situations on my layout where I and others have saved time and/or money by using unconventional materials or methods, and the varied results and compromises achieved. Pieces of some of the materials will be handed out for demonstration purposes, and the attendees invited to discuss their own improvisations. There is never enough time or money to build the layout you really want, so over the years I have experimented with various materials and methods to speed construction and improve operations. While technically not jazz, I call it “Model Railroad Improvisation”. This clinic will explore some of the best examples, from myself and others, with pictures and pieces of some of the materials to pass around. We will also take the pulse of clinic attendees to uncover any new discoveries that haven’t become widely known yet.'

So you want to Build a Dream Model Railroad by Bill Decker

Eight years into building his own dream model railroad, the SP Cascade Line Cascade line, Bill has had time to reflect on what goes into designing and building a basement-filler. His reflections include alternative, valid choices to his own. Lessons learned will be discussed as well. This presentation is intended to promote thinking about the many layout choices to design and build what most suits the individual modeler.
BiographyBill has been a lifetime modeler of the Southern Pacific with excursions into other western railroads. With retirement came a return to his native Oregon and brought the real estate and time to tackle a basement-filling dream layout. Bill's SP Cascade Line began construction in 2012 and has now seen over forty formal operating sessions over the completed mainline.
When I am 1:64 By Trevor Marshall
Modelling an obscure prototype in a niche scale
Biography'Trevor is a lifelong model railway enthusiast. He finds every scale, gauge, prototype, era and theme fascinating -
and has built layouts to indulge many of these ideas. He has never finished a layout although his current project -
a Canadian National branch line in southern Ontario in S scale -
is getting close. That said, he’s already thinking about what will come next.
Beyond his own projects, Trevor has a keen interest in layout design and has helped several friends create layouts that combine prototype modelling and operating fun,
while remaining achievable in terms of time, money and other resources.
Trevor is a frequent contributor to Railroad Model Craftsman magazine, co-hosted a podcast called The Model Railway Show
and was a host and writer for TrainMasters TV. He writes a number of websites about the hobby, too.'
